Dear brothers and sisters, let us remember one thing. One child, one teacher, one book, one pen can change the world. Education is the only solution. Education first. The terrorists thought that they would change our aims and stop our ambitions. But nothing changed in my life except this: weakness, fear and hopelessness died. Strength, power and courage were born. I am not against anyone. Neither am I here to speak against the Taliban. I am here to speak up for the right of education of every child. I speak not for myself but for all girls and boys. I raise up my voice not so that I can shout, but so that those without a voice can be heard.

Queridos irmãos e irmãs, lembremos de uma coisa. Uma criança, um professor, um livro, uma caneta pode mudar o mundo. Educação é a única solução. Educação em primeiro lugar. Os terroristas pensaram que mudariam nossos objetivos e parariam nossas ambições. Mas nada mudou na minha vida exceto isso: fraqueza, medo e desesperança morreram. Força, poder e coragem nasceram.
