Today we are launching a campaign called HeForShe. I am reaching out to you because I need your help. We want to end gender inequality, and to do that we need everyone to be involved. I was appointed six months ago and the more I have spoken about feminism, the more I have realized that fighting for women's rights has too often become synonymous with man-hating. If not me, who? If not now, when? Both men and women should feel free to be sensitive. Both men and women should feel free to be strong. It is time that we all perceive gender on a spectrum, not as two opposing sets of ideals.

Hoje estamos lançando uma campanha chamada ElesPorElas. Estou me dirigindo a vocês porque preciso de sua ajuda. Queremos acabar com a desigualdade de gênero, e para isso precisamos que todos se envolvam. Fui nomeada há seis meses e quanto mais falo sobre feminismo, mais percebo que lutar pelos direitos das mulheres muitas vezes se tornou sinônimo de odiar homens. Se não eu, quem? Se não agora, quando? Homens e mulheres devem se sentir livres para serem sensíveis. Homens e mulheres devem se sentir livres para serem fortes. É hora de todos perceberem gênero como um espectro, não como dois conjuntos opostos de ideais.
